  • African Society for Laboratory Medicine, Technical assistance for TB networks, 03/2024, 04/2024, Assessed the existing gaps within the national TB laboratory strategic plans of 21 countries in Africa against the WHO's End TB strategy and Laboratory Strengthening targets. Developed a manuscript currently under peer review highlighting the need for a strategic decision tool that can enable the development and review of national TB laboratory strategic plans aligned with the End TB Strategy and WHO recommendations.

This framework can serve as a valuable tool for countries to assess their existing plans, identify gaps, and align their strategies with global guidelines.
  • African Society for Laboratory Medicine, e-Learning and M&E Technical Consultant, 03/2021, 03/2022, Managed e-learning curricula delivery for a project that aimed to enhance laboratory workforce development on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance in Africa. This included designing the format for e-learning courses, liaising with content developers, and evaluating learner metrics. Accomplishments

  • I served as a technical expert in diagnostic network assessments and TB program reviews, contributing to the alignment of national strategic plans with global goals and targets, ensuring the effective implementation of evidence-based strategies.
  • Established and maintained effective working relationships with international and national staff at all levels through providing technical assistance and conducting site monitoring visits as well as organizing country-experience sharing webinars to disseminate the project experience and allow sharing of best practices between countries.
  • Provided valuable input in discussions with the Ministry of Health regarding the potential for self-testing among high-risk individuals, and the implementation of dual HIV and syphilis testing.
  • Promoted within one year of joining the organization to lead the clinical trials laboratory and shape laboratory strategy.
  • As technical advisor on a treatment optimization project, informed decentralization plans for CD4 testing in remote clinics.
  • Designed one of the first clinical trials evaluating the impact of Xpert MTB/RIF on patient outcomes in the context of HIV that contributed to the development of the first WHO guidelines on rapid molecular testing for TB.
