James Critchlow

I took care of 2 children (1 and 6 years old) once a week through a Family Agency.
I was tasked with providing various activities, guidance in homework and the occasional meal whilst the parents were working.
The family requested that I speak to the children specifically in English in order to improve their English-speaking and writing capabilities.

From this experience, I have been able to work both on my patience and attentiveness towards others, and towards the tasks I am performing.

For a summer job in 2022, I enrolled as a charity worker for an association that specialised in the rehabilitation of disaffected people (immigrants, ex-felons, homeless, etc.) to help back into the workforce. The association in of itself collects abandoned and used items that have been thrown away, and repurposes them – either as bundles that are sent to countries/regions in need, or are sold in the charity shop.

I worked in the cleaning, sorting and stacking of items, as well as at the cash register during open-shop hours.

I greatly appreciated working for this charity association, as I was able to meet many people from various walks of life, that I had never really considered before.

I was a Teaching Assistant in the P.E department at the British School of Paris, where I was tasked with organising student activities and classes. I partook in the organising of the end of year "Sport's Day", and helped plan several lessons, as well as host after-school football and basketball games.

I greatly appreciated my time at this establishment, I felt very welcome and enabled to get experience in working with children.

This internship was organised by the school I attended, and was an observational internship - I was unable to perform any tasks other than minor administrative duties, whilst discovering administrative and civil law.
