  • Collaborate with stakeholders, SMEs, UX, and architecture teams for roadmap definition
  • Maintain a 12-month product backlog and ensure on-time delivery with clear communication to stakeholders.

Leader Subject Matter Expert (SME) - 3D/4D Geomechanics

Baker Hughes
11.2018 - 07.2020
  • Defined 24-month product roadmap for 3D/4D geomechanics software implementation
  • Supported sales and consulting teams in applying geomechanics models for O&G operations.

Data Scientist Consultant

FIRE1
08.2018 - 10.2018
  • Develop algorithms and evaluation metrics.

Programmer - 3D Geological Modelling

Fault Analysis Group
01.2016 - 03.2018
  • Responsible for the development of 3D reservoir modelling software, FaultMaker
  • The software is part of a research project, QUAFF2, funded by nine Oil & Gas Companies and it is responsible for generating high-resolution 3D geological models of complex fault zones
  • It is implemented in two versions: as a plug-in for the Petrel Modelling System and as Standalone Software, FaultMakerSA
  • The code is shared between both applications, making them present almost the same functionality
  • The software is developed in C# programming language and uses .NET, SharpGL, and Ocean development frameworks
  • Code documentations, User manual and Installation guide are written, updated and provided throughout the project.

Reservoir Geomechanics Scientist

SLB - Schlumberger
08.2012 - 12.2014
  • Worked executing projects for internal (Schlumberger) and external clients related to Geomechanical Modelling at well scale (wellbore stability) and reservoir scale (compaction/subsidence, reservoir performance, cap rock integrity, fault stability, well survivability and geomechanics for well and hydraulic fracture planning)
  • Some projects included modelling stresses in complex environments, including faulted and fractured reservoirs, with salt domes and overburden formations
  • Others, involved a 4D geomechanics model - coupled geomechanics and reservoir simulators to predict the stress changes, deformations or rock failure in field life
  • And lastly, for unconventional reservoirs, the coupled geomechanics and hydraulic fracture modelling to understand the stress changes during the fracture treatments and to improve the well and fracture design (well spacing, stage spacing and stage sequence)
  • This includes stress shadow, synthetic microseismic and fracture stability computation
  • For all these 3D/4D projects, VISAGE (3D Finite Element geomechanics simulator) and ECLIPSE (3D Finite Difference reservoir simulator) were applied
  • Worked developing Petrel plug-ins for the Geomechanics portfolio
  • I was responsible for the development of the mathematical solution and graphical user interface of the MFIP Petrel plug-in
  • The plug-in can map mechanical failure and predict fractures based on stress field
  • This was one of the first geomechanics Petrel plug-ins available for clients in the Ocean Store
  • I was involved, as well, on the development of the Geological Restoration Petrel plug-in prototype
  • Both plug-ins are based on 3D stresses computed by a 3D Finite Element geomechanics simulator (VISAGE)
  • They were developed in C# programming language and used .NET, and Ocean development frameworks.

Unconventional Reservoir Technology Champion

SLB - Schlumberger
11.2011 - 08.2012
  • Worked developing and promoting the Geomechanics portfolio of products and services for Unconventional reservoir
  • Responsible for spreading the 1D and 3D Geomechanics workflows related to unconventional reservoirs
  • These workflows involved the stress computation (by Techlog-1D and VISAGE-3D), followed by well placement design, fracture design (Mangrove) and 3D fracture mapping/permeability update
  • Supported the development team in the new Petrel plug-ins and prototypes for Geomechanics.

Software Engineer

SLB - Schlumberger
09.2009 - 11.2011
  • Responsible for the conception and development of a Petrel plug-in prototype for calibration of natural fracture properties using well test data
  • This plug-in used an optimization package and 3D Finite Element flow simulator (MAFIC) to compute optimum fracture parameters that could be exported to ECLIPSE or INTERSECT (3D reservoirs simulators) for reservoir simulation studies
  • The plug-in was developed in C# programming language and used .NET and Ocean development frameworks
  • Worked in Commercialization Team testing the Ocean development framework used on the development of the Petrel plug-ins
  • Exposure to Agile techniques.

Research & Software Engineer

Tecgraf - PUC-Rio
07.2001 - 09.2009
  • Worked with the Petrobras Research Center (CENPES) in the FRATURAS3D project for 3D modelling and numerical simulation of flow in fractured reservoir
  • FRATURAS3D is a suite of software applications including: statistical analysis of existing fracture network (StatisticalFracture), discrete fracture network generator (FracGen3D), Finite Element mesh generator for porous media and discrete fractures, and 3D Finite Element simulator of flow in porous and fractured media (FTPF-3D)
  • Tools were also developed for estimating the equivalent permeability of a fracture network (ChannelSim), and for generating a Finite Element mesh for fractures based on an existing rock mesh (FracMesh)
  • The applications were written in C/C++ and Fortran programming languages and used IUP and OpenGL development frameworks
  • The FRATURAS3D project was a product of my PhD research
  • With the exception of the 3D mesh generator, I was responsible for the research and development of all of its modules
  • Worked on the PREA3D project for the analysis and design of mooring systems
  • I was responsible for the development of graphical user interfaces and 3D visualization tools
  • The software was developed in C/C++ and Lua programming languages and used IUP and OpenGL development frameworks.

BSc Professor

UCAM
03.2009 - 07.2009
  • Taught 'Isostatic Systems' and 'Solid Mechanics' in the Production Engineering course.

Research & Software Developer

DEC - PUC-Rio
03.2001 - 03.2004
  • Responsible for the 3D modelling and numerical simulations of flow and transport of chloride in groundwater using VisualModflow
  • The projects aimed to study the environmental impact caused by leaks during oil-gas activities
  • Responsible for the developing a 3D analytical simulator for transport of contaminant in porous media (ASTC-s)
  • This tool can quickly predict groundwater contaminant concentration in time and space
  • It can also be applied in preliminary studies for environment and human health protection
  • In addition to the simulator, graphical user interfaces and 3D visualization tools were implemented
  • The software was developed in C/C++ programming languages and used IUP and OpenGL development frameworks
  • Responsible for implementing the ethanol reactive model in a 3D numerical simulator for transport of contaminant (RT3D)
  • This model simulates the effect of ethanol when it is in contact with gasoline in the groundwater
  • As ethanol is a commercial fuel, and 25% of the Brazilian gasoline is composed of ethanol, the model can be widely applied in Brazil
  • Fortran programming language.
